About — Our School
Welcome from the Principal — Dr. James Lin, Principal
Prestige STEM Academy is a place for personal growth, built around a strong curriculum, our teachers, extracurriculars, and community-service programs. A dedicated counseling team advises students on course selection, activities, standardized tests, research, competitions, summer programs, and college applications. Our hope is that students find their time here meaningful and build a foundation for college and the years beyond.
Our Mission
Our students compete in science bowls, research U.S. rail infrastructure, edit fantasy manuscripts, complete medical-research internships at City of Hope, and take part in the Biology Olympiad under the principal's guidance. They are speakers, careful scientists, service advocates, and high achievers. As Vice Principal Dr. Janet Jiang puts it, "the universe is a place we live together." Prestige is a fully accredited hybrid (online and on-site) private school serving full-time and part-time students from primary through secondary school, with a focus on whole-person development rather than academics alone.
Our Philosophy
Our teachers hold degrees from highly ranked colleges and universities, and many hold advanced degrees (MD, PhD, MA). We teach in small groups and through one-on-one mentorship, favoring close, face-to-face work over instruction at a distance. Teachers act as guides and advocates who collaborate with students toward their goals, not as disciplinarians.
Our Core Values
Excellence — a commitment to academic and personal excellence; each student is an individual working toward their own best, measured and celebrated across the community.
Integrity — an ethical foundation built in a principled learning community; students are encouraged to act with honesty, respect, and compassion, and to seek solutions to the world's challenges.
Community — close, meaningful student-faculty relationships let teachers tailor programs; a thriving community asks responsibility and commitment of every member.
Independence — students take on growing independence and ownership of their learning, developing curiosity, creativity, and confidence, with opportunities to lead.
Perspective — academic and extracurricular programs broaden students' outlooks and connect them to the wider world, with experiential learning at the core.
Our History
Dr. Janet Jiang created Prestige in California in 2001 as an enrichment-only program. The school was officially established in 2003. In the years since, it has grown into an institution offering credit-bearing private-school classes and degree-granting programs, and it continues to expand.
